Day 56 of Gestation (pregnancy)

We took a trip to the reproduction vet for an x-ray to try to get a count. Dr Kent saw 7 for sure, maybe 8. It was hard to see all the heads. I saw extra spines, but without a head, no, no headless puppies, just the head could have been hiding behind something or the other pups head. Or it was from one of the pups we already counted. I guess time will tell. I called my regular vet and he is on stand-by for help or c-section if necessary.

Repro vet suggested Clovite and to check the feed stores for it. It was not in-stock so I ordered some to give Peony to aid with whelping and lactation.

Two of the puppy pads arrived, some won’t be here until after whelp. I also have paper disposable pads I can put in the box for easy clean-up during whelping.

I have been taking her temperature two times a day, preferably 12 hours apart so I can catch the 2 degree temperature drop.

I don’t see a true 2 degree drop yet, and it is still early. The rule of thumb is that labor will start 24 hour after temperature drop.
